The identity of the now infamous ‘Russian man’ accused of secretly recording intimate sessions with Kenyan and other African women without their consent has been revealed.

The government of Ghana publicly released the passport of the Russian national after talks with the Russian ambassador to Ghana, naming the suspect as 36-year-old Vladislav Luilkov.

According to Ghanaian Communication Minister Sam George, the government has activated international legal action against the individual to ensure that he is charged immediately he gets out of Russia.

“We had very fruitful deliberations where we presented information available to us with relation to Vladislav Luilkov, the Russian national who is alleged to have engaged in non-consensual recording of ladies,” he stated.

“Working with the Ghana Police CID, we have activated international legal action through INTERPOL to ensure that once the individual sets foot outside Russia, we have a legal route to make him answer for his actions within Ghana,” he added.

The latest development comes after the Russian government dismissed earlier claims on the identity of the individual, revealing that the name being widely shared on social media did not correspond to any known Russian name.

Initial reports indicated the viral ‘Russian man’ had earlier been identified as Yaytseslav, a 36-year-old content creator who described himself as a ‘pickup artist’ from Ulyanovsk, Russia. But it turns out that his widely circulated name is a fake he uses online to share explicit content on his social media accounts.

Russian ambassador to Ghana Sergei Berdnikov on Tuesday stated that he could not confirm the man’s nationality, adding that the name trending on social media is not a legitimate Russian name but rather a vulgar expression in Russian.

He, however, revealed that Russian authorities were already aware of the individual’s activities in other countries and that investigations by Russian experts were ongoing.

In recent days, social media platforms were flooded with videos purportedly showing the Russian national’s multiple encounters with women, some of them Kenyan, sparking widespread online debate.

With his identity now revealed, Ghanaian authorities are now waiting until he gets out of his country so that they can charge him with the offences, since Russia has a policy that bars its nationals from being expelled and being charged in a foreign country.

“We are deeply concerned about the reported circulation of intimate content involving Kenyan women, which is a clear violation of privacy, dignity, and the law,” a statement from DCI said-Kenyans.co.ke
